NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference)

Our NCYC 2019 Pilgrimage is complete and on behalf of all of us who attended the National Catholic Youth Conference, we want to thank the parishioners of St. Francis Xavier and St. John the Baptist for their prayerful and financial support of our trip to Indianapolis.  Our pilgrimage began Thursday November 21st with Mass at 1am (yes, that’s right..1am) with the pilgrims from Tomahawk joining us and Father Chris celebrating the Mass.  We arrived in Indianapolis Thursday morning at 10:30am eastern time.

Our Thursday night session was kicked off with a concert by Christian rock band For King and Country.  The following days were a mixture of informative spiritual talks, adoration, confession, Mass, clothespins, crazy hats, praise and worship, singing and dancing, and meeting young Catholics from all over the country.  We arrived back in Merrill around 3pm on Sunday November 24th exhausted but filled with the Holy Spirit.

Roughly 23,000 high school students and chaperones attended this year’s conference.  Just under 90 of those students and chaperones represented the Diocese of Superior and St. Francis was represented by 9 high school students and 5 chaperones.  High school students Aaron Arndt, Cole Bares, Olivia Bares, Kayla Burrow, Elliott Hanson, Nevaeh Nelson, Becca Rell, Isaiah Rell, Noah Ryan, along with chaperones Mary Hackel, Scott Nelson, Kevin Rell, Erich Wallace, and Dcn Jim Arndt would like to thank all of you for your support of our fundraisers.  Without the support of the parishioners of St Francis Xavier and St. John the Baptist this pilgrimage would not be possible.  Our next pilgrimage to NCYC will happen in November 2021 in Indianapolis.  Please pray for all us, that the Holy Spirit continue to work in the lives of all our youth.
